AAA Insurance – Plouff Family Agency Customer Reviews:
You don’t find out how good your insurance company and agent are until you actually need them. After 25 years of owning a home I had to make my first ever claim due to damage sustained from a hail storm this spring. Both AAA and the Plouff Family Agency performed very poorly.
AAA communicated very poorly regarding the roof and siding claim I made. When I called the agency for some guidance on the process I was told to call the adjuster. It was difficult to even determine who the adjuster was, much less get in touch with them. I was just looking for any information on how the whole process worked but the employee of the agency was either unable or unwilling to help.
While AAA did replace my roof, they only replaced one side of my home’s siding, despite the fact that the siding is 20 years old and has been discontinued. AAA said that I hadn’t purchased the optional endorsement regarding “mismatched materials” that would entitle me to full siding replacement. I appealed to both AAA and the agency about the fact that I was never offered nor was I made aware of such an endorsement. After reading my 35 page policy 3 or 4 times in search of any mention of “mismatched materials” I called and emailed the agency, including the owner himself, for any help in identifying where this matter was mentioned. The person I talked to on the phone just flat out didn’t know and couldn’t find it in my policy. When I emailed with Nathan Plouff about it he just said that it was in “Section A” with no other information. On the 5th reading of the policy I finally spotted the “mismatched material” statement.
I spoke with an agency employee on the phone about the optional endorsement that was never offered to me. They admitted that the endorsement is rarely ever discussed and almost no one has it on their policy. Just don’t expect them to put anything in writing, as they can then be held responsible.
To add insult to injury, after canceling my policy with them they mistakenly charged me for the next monthly installment. They did eventually return my money minus about $4 which was the pro-rated bill for the one day of coverage I received because of their mistake. When I spoke with the agency about that they said “Oh boy, they’ll really push back on that”. I was told that they would keep me updated but have yet to hear back from them.
To sum it all up, the Plouff Family agency communicated poorly, doesn’t follow through on answering questions, does not advocate for their customers with AAA corporate, and to top it all off their owner seemed to be on vacation every time I tried to get a hold of him. Neither the agency or AAA valued me as a customer enough to try to keep me. I imagine they just figure that losing customers is part of the churn that probably happens in the insurance business. I’ve since moved to a different insurance company. Perhaps I’ll have a similar experience with the new company, however, at least AAA and the Plouff Family Agency will no longer make a buck off of me.
