Amica Mutual Insurance Company Customer Reviews:

Was involved in a hit and run situation with an insured amica driver. Ran through a stop sign and t-boned me. Had to chase down the driver and get her to pull over. She automatically took fault and admitted to driving off. The Amica insurance agent has been difficult to work with ever since. My auto body shop I’m working with said amicas portal wouldn’t allow them to upload. The amica agent basically told me I’m the one that needs to figure that out for the auto body shop. The amica agent was super uncooperative in getting the estimate from the auto body shop, even though I also had already uploaded the estimate to their portal. Instead the Amica agent prologned the process by hiring a private estimator inseatd of working with the shop to get thir estimate uploaded. Finally got my car in the shop and the shop told me how they are going to be keeping invoices of all my parts and will correct the prelimiary check that amica sent that was severely undercut from their estimate. Also, I’ve asked to get a rental car 3 times to no prevail. I had asked for clarification about how to set up the rental car with direct bill to enterprise and got no reply. The first time I asked for a rental car, the agent just listed off reasons for the rental to be possibly discontinued without actually even helping me set up a rental, which seemed a bit condesceding. Why list the reasons of the rental being discontued if you are not even going to help me set one up? The last 2 emails have not even been replied to at all. So all in all it seems getting hit by an insured amica driver means no actual help getting a rental car set up, undercutting the cost of getting your car fixed and being told that their website problems are something you need to personally figure out. What a joke.

Amica has a pay-in-full discount, as almost all places do. But they’re tricky about it.

When you sign up, it will give you the pay-in-full discount (which is significant) when you pay in full. If you change it to monthly, it will automatically remove the pay-in-full discount (obviously). However, if you pay-in-full again, it will not automatically add the discount back AND IT WILL NOT TELL YOU THIS when you are paying (or ever). It will just take the extra money.

They automatically removes the discount but do not automatically give it. It’s underhanded and it’s wrong. The logic is there on the site to remove the discount automatically so there is nothing stopping them implementing the discount automatically except the desire to take advantage of the customer.

If you call them about this, they’ll add the discount back but WILL NOT REFUND the extra money that you paid by not receiving the discount.

The card they had on file declined. They didn’t run it again to avoid overdraft fees, which is reasonable.

I received an email at 10:48 pm saying that it needed to be paid and didn’t see it until the next morning.

By then they had cancelled the insurance.
No more correspondence.

When I called to pay and have it reinstated I was told it would be under review for 2 weeks and I would not be covered during that time.

They were also unable to start a new policy so that I could safely drive that day.

The woman on the phone actually said I’d be better off calling a different company.

Progressive had me back on the road in 30 minutes.

Mea culpa about the card that declined, but the rest of the situation seems like it could have been handled a bit better.

You know, maybe call me? 😑

Terrible company. Changes policy without notification. When I was totaled by drunk driver, they gave me 3 comparison vehicles that weren’t even close to the value of my totaled vehicle. Had to retain a private adjuster to get this crooked company to be fair/honest. Trust me, go anywhere else than here.

I have told these cretins to stop emailing, hard mailing, and calling me. Every week I have something from them when I have never given them anything but vitriol in regards to their scam. I don’t know how many times I have to cease and disist all contact with me. I am not the only one who has to deal with their SPAM every week.
