Lost $421 dollars of my money by having brightway just completely ignore a bill that was sent their way from citizens. My agent, Brandi, waited 2 months to send it to me disguising the email as some demand for payment claiming that I had 24hrs to pay it or I will lose my insurance. I call citizens and they confirmed with me that it was already paid when they automatically took the money from me last december, and that the only reason I had this charge in the first place is because Brightway decided to move forward with a faulty inspection with no notification to me as the homeowner or to the inspector (the issue was a single photo that was a little blurry, and could have been fixed BEFORE i lost my money). And of course, to get this fixed, Brightway pushed all responsibility back onto me, asking me to schedule the inspector and explain the situation to him because they claim they can’t work with the inspector directly (this is a blatant lie)
So $421 just exited my account, which could have been prevented back in December. So far, brightway hasn’t aknowledged this, or apologized despite multiple requests, so my only assumption is that brightway is doing whatever they can to trick their customers into handing over relatively small to medium sums of money to make a quick buck off of unsuspecting customers. If you are currently working with the Sterner Agency I advise you to proceed with caution and read into EVERYTHING they send you or have someone else help you review any and all communication, to avoid any mishaps with your funds – especially if you are elderly, have a learning disability, a language barrier, etc – if I didnt see the incorrect date on the bill and called them out on it – I would’ve just sent the money over. They wont help you after something like this happens so staying ahead of them is your only option it seems.
I didnt want to make this review, and I have been holding off for some time because I believe that everyone deserves a chance to explain themselves, and this very well could have been an honest mistake, but Brightway has no interest in admitting this or aknowledging the event at all despite multiple requests for answers – opting to dodge accountability instead, and leave me in the dark on the status of my own file, which is incredibly concerning, and I think others should be aware. They’ve had over a month to explain this to me and not a single person at this agency has even aknowledged it happened.
Additional Edit: I failed to mention earlier in the review that during the process to get these funds back, Brightway allowed for a random 3rd party – who I dont know and still dont know – gain access to my account and submit an agent of record change. All of this without my permission. They have also continued to fail to let me know about errors with my account, Brandi slipped and mentioned over email that there were “multiple issues” with my file (news to me) and so when I called citizens it turns out they have no proof of residency from me because Brightway never asked for it despite the possibility of helping me in the future.
Final update: While trying to get some answers about my file, they lied to me and told me their office was closed to avoid having to provide me with any real explanation of why they tried to take my money – I called and confirmed it was indeed open! One things for sure – if you need a team of liars to lose your money so you dont have to – the sterner agency is your team!
