We decided to switch home owners insurance to Narragansett Bay. They quoted us at $4,700 annually which sounded good but then the headache started. A few days later a woman came to do an inspection, she took pictures of every inch of the house even our furniture. Two weeks go by after the inspection and we get a letter that our premium went up to $5,700 and we also got a list of things they wanted fixed within a month or they would cancel our policy. They expected us to put a new roof on (even though the roof we have on now isn’t even 20 years old and is in great condition) they also wanted us to replace our vinyl siding because according to them it had moisture on it… Made zero sense it’s white vinyl siding and what they called moisture was actually just dirty siding we haven’t had it power washed in a while. They wanted our oil tank on a cement slab, it’s currently cemented into 4 concrete blocks and has been like that since 1964. They also wanted us to remove the slide from our pool which has also been there since 1964 and there has never been a problem, also we don’t have any young kids so it hardly gets used. There were also a few more ridiculous things they wanted done and all this had to be done in a month. They ended up giving us another month to fix everything and decided to raise our rate to $7,000. We decided to cancel because within a month they went from $4,500 to $7,000 and we don’t have thousands of dollars to fix things that don’t need fixing! We went with progressive and are paying $3,062 annually. Don’t waste your time with Narragansett Bay , we use to have them many years ago and they were wonderful but a new owner took over a few years ago and made it really tough to get insured through them. It was a extremely stressful month dealing with everything they threw at us. They should have just denied us from the beginning!!

We have had the best experience with Narragansett Bay. Our A/C unit broke and flooded the basement. Edgar Amaya and his workers Anderson, Christian and Yamil came to survey the damage and rip out all the damaged areas. They were efficient, professional and did great work. Such a relief to have all of the water damaged flooring and sheetrock out of our home. Highly recommend them!

Recently had a serious plumbing in our basement. Jay McIlver from NBIC came out right away to help with the mitigation. From the minute he came in the house I was thoroughly impressed. He went above and beyond making sure this process was done properly. He tested walls, floors, and furniture for water damage and left no stone unturned.
More companies need employees like this representing their company.
We couldn’t be more pleased with this process. Hoping the rest of the process goes as well!

We moved out of state. I’ve had to call 6 times to get them to correct a mistake someone made in their system for a refund check that is owed to us. It has not been reissued. No one seems to know the procedure, policies or be on the same page. There is no continuity of care. You have to retell what’s going on each time you call. I’ve had to call multiple times for almost a month now and the check still hasn’t been sent that is owed to us (because of a mistake one of their employees made in our address, not us). I’ve tried escalating twice it just seems hopeless and I’m really not sure why. Very disappointed. Hope they get it figured out soon. Also makes me thankful we have never had to submit a claim because I cannot imagine dealing with this service.

It’s the worst insurance ever. Don’t waste your money and time for them. They canceled your police whenever they want even if you paid in full for whole year and they don’t want to give you money back. If it will be an option to give them zero star, I will be given them zero. Someone should do an investigation in this insurance company because there is something wrong with them. 👎
