I mailed a check to MONARCH for my insurance policy. they informed my broker at SHAPIRO that payment was not received 3 weeks after the check was mailed. i then paid for my policy again via Monarchs online portal as i did not have cover. when i checked my bank monarch had also cashed my check. I have now paid twice for my policy and when my broker BENA LACERNA requested a refund to be paid directly into my bank account MONARCH refused and said they will mail a check to my address in south Africa where i live. I Informed BENA LACERNA OF SHAPIRO that this was un acceptable. Bena then dumped the problem on me to sort out with MONARCH. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE SERVICE FROM SHAPIRO. I LIVE IN SOUTH AFRICA AND THIS IS WHY I USE A BROKER. i used to have Crosslet insurance as my broker and all of a sudden I’m with Shapiro without explanation. croslett always gave me good service. shapiro service sucks!!!!! My husband and I had both been with the same insurance company since before marriage, over 25 years each, but they did not provide home or umbrella coverage in Florida. Shapiro came highly recommended by our neighbors five years ago, but since the departure of one of their key personnel, the service and responsiveness have gone severely downhill to the point we are considering eliminating the middleman since they seem to defer us to our insurance carrier more often than not. Emails don’t get answered as quickly and even phone calls aren’t handled professionally. When I recently emailed to get a straightforward answer, I did not hear back within 24 hours so I called the office and was told that my assigned agent was on the phone. They offered to let me talk to someone else who answered the phone without identifying herself. The response she provided lacked the definitive yes or no answer we needed so once again, I went directly to the source. They took over 30 minutes to pour over the policy as well as contact the underwriter to ensure we were on solid ground, something Shapiro did not take the time to do. I couldn’t let my 5-star review w over 1200 views stand unedited.
