The third question that they ask you for filing a claim when you call the office is NOT on the portal page, in witch delays there decision. It’s been nearly three months now since I’ve filed for unemployment and yet still no decision. I’m beyond discusted with your service, and about to contact S.L.E.D. to investigate into this. Because if it’s happening to me, it’s more than likely happening to everyone else.

The wait was horrible. Claimants have a unlimited use of the computers . They only allow 10 people in at a time. So the other 100 are either standing outside til they are near death or either a heat stroke. Some people are sitting in their cars til the gas hand touch E. It’s horrible. I sat down there with my step dad and he has issues with his heart but he is willing to work. He sat outside in the sun and almost had a heat stroke waiting. I filled out 2 comment cards while there and tried to influence the people that were there that they should complete those comment cards before walking away. However the receptionists rudely interrupted by saying filling out those comment cards will not change anything. Those comment cards are there for a reason. Those resources are there for a reason.
Things change when the majority has an issue with the same issue. If the public libraries can limit people with the use of computers so can the unemployment office. It’s sad and to hot to ask anyone to stand out there til the next person has exhausted their brain using the computer. I saw at least 50 people or more walk away because they were dehydrated, or out of gas

Wad not very helpful and when I asked questions they could not help me it’s been almost a year and they still have not helped ne and the hours i have spent on the phone with them the same thing how can a business be open and they do nothing to help you it’s there system how can they not help me they just put me on hold send me to some else and when finally get another on the phone they do the same thing as the last person this is unacceptable and I guess I will have to contact some higher authority for this matter. Secretary of state i assume.

The people working there are very nice. But the reason that I give the unemployment office one star is because the system is broken at best. The only way to file a claim is online. Heaven help those who don’t have a home computer or are computer illiterate. Also it asks many questions in which most people wouldn’t be able to answer without getting their former employers payroll person involved. Also the system is completely self serve. The individuals working at the office can only help you file a claim on their computers. They cannot help you if your employer has your information wrong on their end or if there is any other problem for that matter. But if senator Graham had his way the system wouldn’t even exist. The limitations that the employees of the SCDEW have in their abilities to help you make them helpless. And if in my case your employer has your information wrong and they don’t have record of your employment and they deny your claim. You have to appeal it in their court. Getting unemployment assistance shouldn’t take months. People have to bills to pay. Good news is if your affected by the pandemic, they will process your claim with very few questions and quickly. I believe that’s because it’s coming f from federal money and not what your employer pays in unemployment insurance to the state. Just like any insurance company the SCDEW’s job is to collect payments and deny as many claims as possible.
